AI is evolving at an unprecedented rate. Worldwide, leaders are striving to grasp the implications of this transformative technology while ensuring its economic and societal benefits are widely shared–leveraging AI as a force for good.
The Artificial Intelligence Action Summit is an opportunity to put this collective effort into practice.
The Road to the Summit
On 10-11 February 2025, Heads of State, leaders of international organisations, CEOs, academics, NGOs and more will gather at the Grand Palais, Paris to align on key actions for addressing the future of artificial intelligence.
We are honoured to be taking our place among them, contributing to the discussion, and sharing our vision for building an AI-first world that benefits everyone.
Our journey to the summit began with our CEO and co-founder, Karim Beguir, attending the Nuit de la French Tech 2025 on 29 January in London. A fascinating discussion covered AI’s impact, with Karim sharing his strong belief in the power of open source AI research as: “The best business decision I have ever made for InstaDeep,” leading to countless new opportunities for AI development and helping drive our continued success.
Our GeoAI Hack event on 4-5 February forms part of the Convergence Challenges at the AI Action Summit, showcasing the value of AI to benefit humanity. This hackathon invites teams to leverage geospatial data and AI to track locust swarms, protecting food security for vulnerable communities.
Co-hosted by datacraft and InstaDeep, with members of our dedicated ‘AI for Social Good’ team like Research Engineer Ibrahim Yusuf helping guide those taking part, the two-day experience will immerse participants in InstaGeo open-source geospatial ML tools to address this real-world challenge–unlocking innovative approaches to critical environmental issues.
On 6-7 February, we’ll participate in the AI, Science, and Society Conference, hosted by Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris). Dedicated to exploring AI’s transformative impact, the conference will see Karim take to the stage alongside luminaries including Entrepreneur Michal Valko, Ex GenAI Meta and Google Deepmind, David D. Cox of IBM Research, CEO Patrick Pérez of Kyutai, and Jean-Philippe Vert, Chief R&D Officer at Owkin & Co-founder at Bioptimus for a symposium on Foundational Models, bridging the gap between theory and practice, fundamental research, and applied innovation.
And we’ll be meeting even more of the biggest movers and shakers in AI today at the conference, including Meta’s Yann LeCun, Joëlle Barral from Google DeepMind, Eric Xing, MBZU President, Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist at GenBio AI – and many more. This opportunity to connect with global experts in AI, natural sciences, and social sciences, enhances our roadmap toward an equitable future where AI’s benefits are shared with everyone.
Into Action: Our Plans for the Summit
The AI Action Summit is a chance to celebrate progress, showcasing 50 innovative projects dedicated to promoting wellbeing and the ethical use of AI. With 770 submissions from 111 countries, we are proud that InstaGeo has been selected by the Paris Peace Forum to be featured in action live on stage during the summit.
We’re also excited to be joining a roundtable discussion on 10 February on building resilient AI ecosystems in Africa, joining The World Economic Forum, Rwanda Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and Smart Africa, an alliance of 40 African countries representing 1 billion people. The roundtable is a chance to build strategies aimed at successfully leveraging the advantages of AI in Africa, taking advantage of the region’s unique opportunities for growth.
We’ll also be participating in the Business Day as part of the official program of the AI Action Summit on 11 February, which aims to bring together the tech ecosystem and international economic players, and where we’ll be taking part in a round table discussion on the future of AI deployment in Africa. Register your place here and don’t miss out on meeting us at our booth at the event.
On the same date the InstaGeo team will also be attending the “AI for development: solutions for a sustainable and inclusive future” roundtable organized in partnership with the French agency for development (AFD), Expertise France and Togo’s Ministry of Digital Economy, where they’ll be presenting the potential of the tools and techniques they’ve developed to a panel of French and African decision-makers keen to better understand the potential of innovative new AI technologies.
The summit represents a key milestone in the trajectory of AI. The decisions made now by world leaders will shape how the benefits of AI are shared across the world for generations to come.
For example, with significant increases in compute capacity planned in the U.S., investing in AI infrastructure in Europe and Africa will be a crucial topic of discussion among state leaders aiming to remain key players in AI on a global scale.
Karim summarised his thoughts and InstaDeep’s goals for the summit ahead of his plenary session with international Heads of State and Government on the morning of 11 February:
“Europe has an opportunity to foster ambitious new AI initiatives and partnerships that drive sustainable, inclusive growth and technological leadership. InstaDeep stands ready to help make that vision a reality”.
