InstaDeep’s Youssef Ben Dhieb recently took to the (virtual) stage to discuss how AI can be used to optimize operations and reduce costs, during the launch event for Nebula AI: a new AI platform developed by the Omani government, and powered by NVIDIA high performance computing hardware (HPC). The event was a hybrid format, with an in-person VIP delegation, and speakers and other attendees online, making a grand total of over 300 delegates on the day. The launch also received significant coverage in local and regional press and online news outlets.
Youssef is an accredited Google Developer Expert in Machine Learning, and his work at InstaDeep involves accelerating scientific algorithms using GPUs, and applying Machine Learning and Computer Vision techniques to solve real-world problems in the Oil & Gas and BioTechnology fields. He has also worked as an AI and Robotics lecturer in multiple engineering schools. His presentation demonstrated how several InstaDeep customers had been able to leverage the company’s advanced decision-making AI software to save significant sums of money and operations time and resources.
Other high-profile speakers at the event included Eng. Maqbool Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Data Park; Jaap Zuiderveld, EMEA VP at NVIDIA and Carlo Ruiz, EMEA Director – AI Data Center Solutions, Services & Operations at NVIDIA.
Commenting on the launch, InstaDeep Co-Founder and CEO Karim Beguir said, “the Middle East has a huge opportunity to use AI to transform the region and we congratulate the Omani government on the launch of Nebula. As an Elite NVIDIA partner ourselves, we also recognise their unrivalled skill in delivering quality HPC hardware.”
